In preparation for the Super Bowl tonight at 6 p.m. we went to take a walk at horn pond.
Epic match with Waltham
Early morning match in Arlington with Blake’s team. After last week’s clear win over Waltham in their ice cold home arena they are all ready to take it back to Arlington. Blake plays in the defense for the first time. He needs a few rounds until he finally says at the blue line to play his position.
It is a heated battle, where Waltham goes up 1:0, Arlington comes back to 1:1 and Waltham scores back to 2:1. Arlington in the next play equalizes (2:2), and goes into the lead with 3:2. Now the team has settled and defense and offense play well. The game ends with a convincing performance in a 8:4 win.
This brings the streak up to three and they have won four of the last five.
Geneva first CMS Week in 2017
To get to Geneva I had to use TAP again, even with the unpleasant first flight with them they were so much cheaper that I had no choice. I picked a longer connection in Lisbon which turned out to be a mistake, this time I could have made it on the tight one but they did not let me hopp on, claimed it was full. I am sure it was not.
I arrived in Geneva, later afternoon and will take it easy. I still have to figure out what is important this week. One important item for the week will be my tax declaration 🙂 Another one will be the analysis of the differential cross section of Z production using the new Panda data format.
Testing wordpress app
One of the big advantages of Facebook is that you can post very quickly and that images that you want to connect with your post are very nicely organized without a lot of work. Now I am trying the WordPress application for my Android phone to see how close I can get to the convenience of Facebook using this application. For example below I would just include a photo that I uploaded using add media in the WordPress application.

Finally full ice for Blake

Waltham arena and full ice for
the rest of the season.
From now on until the end of the season our mites are playing full ice. Blake is psyched. The first game was a tough fight but in the end Arlington was able to beat the Waltham boys. The game ended 5:4 and everybody played very well.
Blake explains: “I am right wing man, center is Casey and the left wing is my friend Tucker. In defense we have Caroline, who is a real good goalie as well, and Gilly.” Blake adds: “Gilly always trips me in practice and then we laugh. I do not know why.” he smiles.

On my way to work this morning….
On my way to Orange County

Flying into Denver.

Flying into Orange County.

Driving into work.
DOE has invited me to the operations review for the ATLAS experiment. It is going to be at UCI Irvine. Best location to fly to is Orange County (SNA – SaNta Ana) going through Denver.
After a short stop with a BLT it went on to Orange County. One of those flights with a very tall and broad shouldered seat neighbor, but he was very nice and offered some fudgy chocolate which I of course accepted. Finally we made our way into Orange County airport. What a nice view and how densely populated the area is.
California turns out to be pretty wet (it had been raining a lot before I came) but as I walk across Mac Arthur Bd to my hotel (Atrium Hotel at John Wayne airport) it was dry and the walk was very short.
The hotel turns out to be one of those standard decent hotels with an outside pool under palm trees that I did not use, but it made me regret not having brought my swim suite. The temperature reminds of a nice spring day and this is how it stayed for the next two days. We had a nice dinner in ‘Toni’ Bahamas restaurant, helped by some gas heaters (it is called Tommy, but we liked Toni better).
The review ended around 3pm on Wednesday and my flight back will begin in a few hours (9pm). The notorious red-eye flight to Newark and then on to Boston, right in time at 9am to start a full day of work which will end with a squash match at 7pm in Concord-Acton. Good stuff!
