At six o’clock this beautiful morning Ana awakes and was leaking some water. A little bit of blood comes together with it. At nine o’clock the same repeats and at 10 o’clock again. The sun has come out early and it a fresh morning, just perfect to give birth.
Mum and I just take some breakfast after we have called the doctor (Dr. Bernardo the only woman on the team). It takes about ten minutes until she calls back and decides we should go to the hospital already.
Good we went to Chicago yesterday because otherwise we probably would not have had the opportunity. Let’s wait and see what happens next! We are calmly getting our stuff together, Ana decides to take Milan Kundera with her for reading.
10:22 Arrival in Edward hospital. The nurse is Karen with help of Dawn. Karen has just started at Edwards and still needs some help to understands here ways. She came from another hospital. Small contractions appear regularly on the monitor. Ana just feels little cramps. Ivan has a heart beat rate of 120-170/min and moves around quite vividly. All looks great, so far the mother looks very beautiful, with a good tan and is relaxed. Just worried that the baby should be born healthy.
12:07 Checking on the dilation by Karen and Dawn. We hope that they do not send us home because if the dilation and the urine do not indicate closeness of birth we will go home. There is some blood. Karten has trouble finding the mothermouth….. Dawn is more lucky, about 1 cm size and the baby head still bounces upwards. Looks like we are going back. They still have to check the urine under the microscope and call the doctor.
12:16 waiting for the result — meanwhile Ivan’s heart beat rate is at 130-145/min and he is happily moving around. Ivan’s heart beat rate goes back to 120/min .. 130/min ..
12:26 no fluid compatible with the water from the bag…. waiting for the doctor’s recommendation.
12:37 still waiting ….
And they send us home. We finish the day eating hamburgers, shopping and a short visit to the pool.
